Echocardiogram is an imaging technique that uses sound waves to create images. It allows us to see the movements of the entire heart.

• It can detect congenital heart diseases, determine if the heart is enlarged, and assess heart size.
• By observing blood flow within the heart, it can accurately identify if there is blood leakage due to an incomplete valve closure. It also helps to precisely determine if there are any lesions on the valves.
• The test checks whether the heart’s rhythm and rate are normal or not.
• It calculates the strength of the heart muscles and checks for any decrease in muscle contraction strength due to narrowed heart arteries.
• For surgical procedures, it helps doctors determine if the patient is strong enough to withstand surgery by evaluating heart function through the Echo results.
